Approximately four hours hike from Lukla. Phakding Lodge is set in an idyllic part of the Dudh Koshi river gorge, just before a small bazaar, across a cute bridge. The grounds are lovely. To get a sense of how this Mountain Lodge has spent over a decade working on sustainable farming practices, stroll over to the vegetable garden and see what seasonal produce you might be served at dinner.
Rooms are finished in a combination of traditional Khumbu and modern style with lashings of natural wood. En-suite bathrooms, heated beds, and soft, clean sheets ensure your comfort, along with the spectacular view of the mountains. For the warmest of welcomes, ask staff to turn on your electric blanket before you arrive!
The lodge makes the most of its distinctly rocky setting by stylistically employing large rocks from the riverbanks around its exterior and room interiors. On arrival, freshen up with a hot towel and head to the airy sunroom, decorated with fresh flowers, for the ideal spot to rest up with a welcome drink. You may want to just lounge here all day. In the evening, join your fellow guests in the dining room, a minimalist structure making the most of beamed ceilings and offering postcard views of the Dudh Koshi river gorge.
Dinner is a winner here. The lodge grows much of its own produce and takes pride in serving freshly prepared meals as wholesome in quality as they are generous in portion.
